  • High school class time with kids has been reduced over many years to facilitate more elective classes allowing kids to explore areas of interest. This allows them the opportunity to set goals for a career. Reducing contact time will compress a students schedule even more.

  • If the recall fails, strike is the only option. With collective bargaining we gave up the right to strike. Now the tables are turned.

  • You are right about the diversity (student achievement level) that exists in the classroom. We don't like the phrase but "tracking" students is an efficeint educational process. It is considered a bad word in America but all of the countries we are compared to use this system.

  • I just retired after 36 years teaching HS in a small district in northern Wisconsin. An English teacher in this school teaches 6 English related classes every day. Each class averages 30 students. Usually 4 to 5 different class preparations are necessary by each teacher in a small school.

  • I grew up in Chicago amid teacher and other labor strikes. I feel fortunate that my teaching career was in the best education state in the nation. Check out ACT and SAT scores over the past decades. If your looking for Wisconsin it is at the top of the list.
